Horrible tactics of debt collectors
I just settled a case where the debt collector lied to the client and told him that they had flown into town and were staying around the corner at local hotel. They went on to tell the client they were going to court to check on the status of the case filed in court against him. These were all lies. The debt collector never came to South Florida but was calling from Maryland and was "spoofing" the phone number for a local Holiday Inn near my client. My client saw the number cand called it and sure enough it was the local Holidy Inn. They disguised or "spoofed" the number to make it look like they were in town following her!
