Private judges for hire

Private judging is a relatively new concept in Florida.  It works like arbitration, supposedly though with more formal rules like you have in a courtroom.  The parties agree to have their case heard outside the official courtroom in front of a private judge.  This would be similar to the judge shows you see on TV.

I do not like this because the banks and corporations would be the ones mostly paying and hiring the judges on a large basis and thus these judges would be biased to favor them.  An article by Jose Pagliery just ran yesterday in the Daily Business Review highlighting the potential issues with private judges.  It is a great read.  I am quoted throughout the article as the lone consumer advocate.
